Hi everyone! I’d like to introduce to you, The Road To Motherhood: What No One Tells You, a new weekly series by The Mom Blog WI about motherhood and all it entails! Each week I’ll be posting about the things no one told us about becoming a parent, the things that we wish we would’ve known about creating a little human being and becoming a mom. These things wouldn’t have necessarily made us change our mind about becoming parents, but it definitely would’ve been nice to know!
When do you become a mom? Is it when you give birth? When you find out you’re pregnant? How about while you’re growing a tiny little peapod in your belly? Or the first moment you hold that little bundle of joy in your arms. The answers are endless. Motherhood begins at different times for everyone.
For me, Motherhood began when I first started feeling my little boy kick, when I first saw his little heartbeat on that monitor and heard him for the first time. I instantly fell in love.
When I became a mom, there were a whole host of things going through my mind! I had so many questions. There were a millions things that happened to me and I had no idea what was going on!!! I read the books, I had the pregnancy apps (more than I could count,) I took the class, I had my mom and my doctor, but there were just so many things that no one ever felt the need to tell me about. Of course, in this day and age, Google is there for everything, and I mean everything! I felt like doctors just don’t impart much wisdom anymore about having a baby or being pregnant because there are just so many other resources for finding this knowledge.
I was able to Google a lot of the symptoms I experienced throughout my pregnancy and found immediate relief from the constant anxiety when there was a flood of other woman who were going through the same thing; out of control anxiety and worry, the metallic taste in your mouth, out of control acne, excruciating sciatic nerve pain, constant abdominal cramping 10x worse than your period, your boobs lactating even if you weren’t going to breastfeed, and so much more. But I wish someone would’ve told me some of these things. I wish I would’ve been more mentally prepared.
There are three majors reasons I am starting this mini series, The Road To Motherhood. Part of this series will be part of me becoming a more consistent blogger, and I am so happy to share this journey with all of you. I’ve been trying to find ways to blog more than just once a week, and I am so excited to grow my blog and bring you guys more posts.
The second part of this series will be a chance for me to work on some less long-winded content. I really enjoy writing longer, meaningful blog posts with useful information for you guys, but sometimes that can be stressful. I’d like to try working on some simpler, shorter content. I know a lot of readers enjoy shorter, more comical based content, though I’ve never been good at that. This series will give me a chance to work on branching out and work on something new, funny and edgier for The Mom Blog WI!
The other, more important part of this announcement will be that there’s an opportunity for The Mom Blog WI to have some guest bloggers. I’d love to feature some of my favorite Mom Bloggers and have them write a post about what it’s like being a mom and what no one ever told them! If you’d be interested in doing a Guest Post about What No One Told You on the Road To Motherhood, please feel free to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or if you’re a follower, send a Direct Message to @TheMomBlogWI on Twitter.
I’ll also be announcing another new blog series coming to The Mom Blog WI; Featured Up & Coming Bloggers! I’m really excited to start featuring new Mom & Dad Bloggers from Twitter, giving them some extra exposure and showing you guys the new bloggers that I think are really on to something and the ones to watch for some great things to come! If you’d be interested in being featured, keep an eye out for my upcoming Tweets about #MomBloggersWanted & #DadBloggersWanted!
As always, thank you guys so much for everything you do. I wouldn’t be here without all of you and I really appreciate all the love you guys show me. It’s been an incredible week on Twitter this week and I am so excited to start taking my blogging more seriously and I hope you guys are, too! Keep on loving those precious little ones like only you know how and stay tuned for some more amazing things coming!
